We want you to know that despite the problems that Coronavirus has thrown at us, the Friends of Culcheth Library are still active!
We have some important dates coming up:
Annual General Meeting Saturday 2nd October, 10 am
FoCL Open Morning Saturday 16th October, 10 am
BOTH THESE EVENTS WILL TAKE PLACE IN CULCHETH LIBRARY
Members and the committee will continue the good work:
- to support the library
- to ensure that it continues to be a vital part of our community
- to move forward with any developments that promise to improve the services the library offers to Culcheth and its residents
Our hard-working members have achieved much over the past year, and we wish to offer them our heartfelt thanks. We would also heartily welcome new volunteers – see how you can get involved.
Notable achievements include: developing & hosting a Lego group on a regular basis for local children; supporting a Jigsaw group that meets regularly within the Library and loans puzzles that all Library members can access; hosting a crafting group that meets regularly within the Library and on Zoom; and hosting and supporting reading groups that meet regularly in the library. We have continued to consult with LiveWire and Warrington Borough Council about the development of the library building in Culcheth to meet the needs of its community, and liaised with other library groups within Warrington to share and learn from each other’s work. We have applied for and been very grateful to receive funding from The Rotary Society, the Co-op Community Fund and ASDA.
This is a snapshot of what Friends of Culcheth Library has achieved and gives a flavour of what we will be doing over the next few years. The successes of the group are down to the hard work, generosity and commitment of many people from the local community, working voluntarily to be involved in this project. Our thanks to you.
It is important to remember that the main purpose of the Library in Culcheth is to lend books, audio books, and DVDs to all residents. If this does not happen then we jeopardise the existence of this community educational facility. FoCL encourages you to do just this, borrow a book read it, read to your children, your partner, your parents, your pet, your neighbour then return the book to the library and repeat.
